Hearts and Paisleys :-)

I thought of doing a small dot kolam and placed 4 dots in two rows and proceeded πŸ˜‰ But instead of drawing a sikku I formed a heart shape at the corners, that’s the turning point of my kolam πŸ™‚ As I said earlier I neither prepare nor rehearsal before drawing a kolam. It all happens – Shhh… I shouldn’t blow my own trumpet πŸ˜€
Well its not a Valentine’s Day or love in the air πŸ™‚ Still many hearts in my kolam..
Whenever I try to draw a kolam on a Valentines’s Day, I get stuck, can’t move beyond the basic design at the centre πŸ™‚ But today hearts are emanating from nowhere!!!
The hearts have some magic spells I suppose, so many smileys are popping out of my keypad πŸ™‚

Forgot to add, the kolapodi(white rangoli powder) I have used is sent by a very dear friend of mine, who sent me all the way from Mumbai. She sent me 12 colour powders which I have started to use after January. I was amazed to see the neatness in the packing, though I know about her patience and perfectness she exhibits in her kolams. The powders were packed intact and reached the destination without a pinch of powder out of the pack πŸ™‚ Thanks my dear friend for your encouraging words, tutorials and the thrust when I loiter around without drawing kolams πŸ˜€
I will share a video tutorial of drawing kolams using flower petals, you might be wondering what’s new, Sure will share the secret tips she shared with me πŸ™‚
The texture of the kolapodi is so soft and bright in colour πŸ™‚

Hearts and Paisleys πŸ™‚

How to draw
I placed 4 dots in two rows and two dots on either sides. Then added four cross lines, instead forming a knot I formed four heart shapes. Filled the hearts with powder. Then enclosed these hearts within a big heart shapes. Again 8 filled hearts on the next layer. Now the my favourite element, Yes the addition of
Paisleys , then added some lines inside to fill the paisleys which looked empty πŸ˜€
I don’t like to leave an element with void space as I feel it may give a deserted look on a whole display. So I try to fill with some basic elements such as Dots – either a circular pattern or just arrange in a line, Lines – wavy, curvy, straight depending upon the outline.
