Yesterday I had 45 mins of my own time :-). My little one and her dad were out for an evening walk. I utilised that time to draw a sikku kolam in a jiffy π Drawing the main sikku kolam took hardly 10 mins, by taking step by step photos. But to finish for the final show, 40 mins in total.
This kolam is a part of a big sikku kolam in my notebook. That big kolam counts to 31 dot count :-). I know I can’t imprint that huge one neither at my parents’ home nor here. I can try at my inlaws’ home, but I am not sure whether I can draw it.. It takes some time to adapt myself to the outdoor kolams and that too placing 31 dots really needs a steady hand. Here, I do indoor kolams where I can utilise at the maximum of 4 feet or 16 sft in total. At my inlaws’ home, Its about 15 feet length front yard and to give a measurement about width, well I can keep on increasing the kolam width with no worries about the space π It’s a cement floor and cleaning and drawing kolams isn’t an issue at all. The only concern is that I need to draw before the farm cattle and the birds get up and make their way to their feeding grounds. No traffic and few passersby who make their way to the nearby river for bathing. I love that morning environment, I have mentioned earlier about my inlaw’s geographical location, A small village in Trichy, which is just 5kms away from Trichy Malaikottai, Uchi Pillaiyar Koil. From the terrace, it’s a great sight to see the temple towers of Srirangam, Malaikottai and the church’s spire. To draw kolams in the mornings feels so rejuvenated, the chirping of the birds, the mewing of peacocks. I have to add about the dancing peacocks in the backyard, It’s truly a rare and beautiful sight to see the ostentation π
Coming to the kolam, this is 15 dots placed in straight pattern.
