Welcome Margazhi 🙂 The ninth month in Tamil calender
The most expected month in the year by kolam enthusiasts. It’s a feast to stroll around the town to see ladies painting the whole road with colours and showcasing their drawing skills on the floor. A breathtaking sight indeed to see the vibrant colours tastefully spread on the design making the whole display into an amazing creation. Missing home 🙁
The mornings of Margazhi are always busy with the colour powder vendors bringing their products to the streets and the ladies bargaining for a better discount 😀
There are scientific reasons behind the Margazhi, where its a customary to wake up early in the morning and devoting ourselves in singing praise of the God. Ladies get up early and draw huge kolams in front of the house, usually take more than an hour to draw kolam. Scientifically it has been proved that the ozone level is close to the atmosphere and its good to breathe the unpolluted air which is good for health. Unknowingly we were doing this for centuries together.
To start an account for this margazhi season, I have drawn a sikku kolam with wet rice paste and added color.
