I was in a hurry to finish this kolam. Its a common act for me to rush towards the finish πŸ˜€
This is a 15-1 dot straight pattern kolam. A simple 5-1 sikku kolams are connected with others and the extra dots are filled with hearts enclosed in protective capsules πŸ™‚ 15 dots Sikku Kolam.. A simple and easy to draw kolam. I like this kolam for its simple sikku strand running through, no tangles, a single line though. This Kolam has 5 dots kolam as the the base and drawn on four sides interconnected with a single sikku strand. I have used chalk piece and colours for enhancement.
The strokes were zigzag because of the rough floor and the chalkpiece should had dunged in water for a smooth glide. The bumpy floor made the chalk piece cruise through a rough weather.
A RECENT VERSION of this kolam can be found in this link. I have changed the 5 dots sikku design to give a fresh look though a copy cat kolam.
Drawing kolams with different medium is quite interesting. I couldn’t draw the kolams at the doorstep with rangoli powder as the corridor is small and drawing is bit difficult for me and it’s too tricky to step inside the house without stepping on the kolam. And even a small smudge may pull down the beauty of the kolam. So, I took chalk piece is the medium to draw kolams on the doorstep.
Actually its a bumpy ride for the chalk piece to be etched on the floor. The undulations on the floor frictions the free flow of the line. At times the lines takes a zigzag path. I dip the chalk piece in water before drawing, so that the impression of lines stays for a longer duration. I bought a box of colour chalk piece to draw a colourful kolam.
