I drew this kolam at my Mom’s residence. My mom as usual sat at the door step to oversee my work. I didn’t plan beforehand but started by placing 9 dots and drew sikku strands around it. After finishing my mom with a displeased look said she expected that I would draw a bigger one. I just didn’t want to disappoint her and tried to make it bigger by adding extra dots on the sides and joined the new dots with the left out dots in main kolam. After completion, I still felt the corners had more space to fill in and added another 5 dots to complete the kolam.
Next my favourite part is the addition of extra freehand elements to the kolam. Friends say that the addition of extensions look cool to my sikku kolams, I trust their words 😀
I always wanted incorporate lotus flowers in kolams and want to arrange the petals in the way I have done. I am pleased with the outcome. Then included the minaret shapes on the sides.. For the final touch, the matching borders.
Somehow I managed to draw the kolam amidst of non-stop rhythmic symphony performed by the species to whom the whole mankind fears, yes its the “Mosquitoes” 😀
Altogether its 19-1 dot count 🙂
