This is the highest dot count I have ever tried πŸ˜€ I always have an hesitation to try bigger ones as it needs lots of practice to place the dots in a perfect line and of course stamina right from start to end.
Indeed a good exercise to start the day, but wasn’t so easy for someone who draws kolam only during the India visit. Still managed to finish off the kolam…

A 29 dots kolam, which is the first time I had tried. The maximum dot count should be not more than 21. The big space at my in-laws enthralled me to try my debut big sikku kolam aka the gargantuan kolam for me πŸ™‚ I needed to practice on paper as I didn’t want to create a mess on the floor, as erasing and again starting from placing of dots wasn’t imaginable to me. Placing of dots took much time for me πŸ™‚ It’s an easy 7 dot clubbed to form a big sikku kolam. Placing of dots for a big kolam needs perfection, if a misalignment happened then the whole display may look awkward. As I was drawing kolams for a week, I acquired the steady hand and didn’t have the starting problem.
I was acquainted with the rangoli powder and was used to its texture. I didn’t add rice flour as it was out of stock πŸ™‚ My mother set everything ready by refilling the kolapodi container premixed with rice flour before I land at my parents’ home πŸ™‚
This is 29 dots kolam placed in 5 columns reduced by 8 dots and 21 dots in four columns placed leaving 4 dots on the either sides. Again the same dot count is decreased till it reached 5 dots.
The dot count is as follows
21×5, 21×4, 13×4, 5×4.
After drawing the kolam I just enclosed the kolam by a single line and didn’t think much about the enhancing factor. It took more than an hour. I was half way exhausted while finishing. And the other reason was that there were no colours, the leftover colours used by my SIL for pongal. I was forced to use Red and Beige which were in small quantity.
The beige colour more or less looked like pale white and in picture it looked like sparkling white πŸ˜€ I took this photo from the first floor to get a birds view. I was much satisfied for the symmetry wise as the dots were placed in a right lines πŸ™‚
