The next Kolam with 23 dots kolam and 8th in “My Own Creation” The extended version of 5 dots kolam.
The five dots kolam is well known and common one which I used to draw during my childhood days. The mat loop which can be drawn with any number of rows. This kolam spans within 2’x2′.
Though the structure of the kolam may look complicated an easy one to draw. A sikku strand runs on the outer of the kolam forming a border and connecting the 5 dots kolam on four sides. While the inner strand forms the same design onto the top of the base 5 dots kolam and connecting the sides at the centre. The centre kolam can be drawn separately by placing 7 dots at the centre.
I didn’t go any elaborate design for the outer border which I use as an enhancement tool for elevating the beauty of the kolam. Either I use the design of the main to form the border or any freehand extensions with colours.
